FAQs
What is grounding / earthing?
Grounding, also called earthing, means making direct conductive contact with the earth. Outdoors, that can be as simple as bare skin touching grass, soil, sand, or concrete. Indoors, grounding products are designed to connect to the earth connection of a properly grounded outlet or grounding lead.
How do grounding mats work?
Grounding mats use conductive materials connected by a grounding cord. The cord connects to the earth connection only; it does not draw electrical power from the socket. When your skin touches the conductive surface, it gives you a simple way to include grounded contact in your normal home routine.
Is there scientific evidence for grounding?
Grounding is an emerging area of research. Some small studies and many customer experiences explore grounding in relation to rest, comfort, and relaxation routines, but results vary and the research is still developing.
We do not present grounding products as medical devices or as a treatment, cure, or prevention for any condition. If you have a medical concern, please speak with a qualified healthcare professional.
How long should I ground for?
There is no single required time. Many people start with 20 to 30 minutes and build grounding into a regular routine, such as desk time, sofa time, stretching, or bedtime. Choose a duration that feels comfortable and practical for you.
How do I know if my grounding product is working?
The most reliable way is to check the setup, not to wait for a physical sensation. Use a socket tester to confirm the outlet is properly grounded, make sure the cord is seated correctly, and check that your skin is touching the conductive surface.
If you want extra confirmation, you can use a multimeter or continuity tester, or ask an electrician to check the setup.
Why do I not feel anything when I use it?
That is normal. Many people do not feel any immediate sensation when using a grounding product. A lack of tingling, warmth, or other sensation does not mean the product is not connected. The important thing is that the outlet, cord, and conductive surface are set up correctly.
Do I need bare skin contact?
Yes, direct skin contact is recommended. Bare feet, hands, wrists, arms, legs, or other skin contact can work. Thick clothing, socks, or insulating fabrics can reduce contact with the conductive surface.
Where should I place my grounding mat?
Common placements include under your desk for bare feet, next to the sofa, by the bed, or on a surface where your hands or wrists can rest. Keep the mat flat, dry, and away from anything that could pull on the cord.
Are grounding products safe?
Grounding products are designed to be used only with the earth connection of a properly grounded outlet or approved grounding lead. They should not connect to the live electrical supply.
Truly Grounded products include a built-in 100k ohm resistor and our grounding setup is tested by a certified electrician for added confidence. Always use the supplied adapter and cord, and check your outlet if you are unsure.
Why does my laptop give me a tingling feeling on the grounding mat?
Some laptop power supplies can create a mild tingling sensation when you and the device are both in contact with a conductive surface. If this happens, use the laptop on battery power, move the laptop off the mat, or use the mat only for your body contact rather than as a device surface.
Are there any precautions?
- Use only with a properly grounded outlet or approved grounding lead.
- Unplug grounding products during thunderstorms.
- Keep cords tidy so they do not create a trip hazard.
- Do not use damaged cables, adapters, or products.
- Ask a qualified electrician if you are unsure whether your outlet is grounded.
- Speak with a healthcare professional before use if you have an implanted electrical medical device or a health concern.
Can I use grounding products during thunderstorms?
As a precaution, we recommend unplugging all grounding products during thunderstorms.
What are the benefits of using grounding products?
For most customers, the main appeal is simple: grounding products make it easier to add direct conductive contact into everyday life without needing to be barefoot outside. They can fit into quiet routines such as working at a desk, reading, stretching, meditating, or preparing for bed.
Individual experiences vary. We focus on safe setup, reliable conductive contact, and clear instructions rather than promising specific health outcomes.
How long before I notice anything?
Everyone is different. Some people enjoy the routine straight away, while others simply use grounding as a quiet habit over time. We do not guarantee a specific sensation or result.
Can grounding help with sleep issues?
Grounding sheets and pillowcases are designed to make grounded contact easy during your normal bedtime routine. Some customers choose them for that reason, but they are not sold as a treatment for sleep problems and results vary.
Can grounding products treat health conditions?
No. We do not sell grounding products as a medical treatment, cure, or prevention for any condition. If you have symptoms, a diagnosis, or a health concern, please speak with a qualified healthcare professional.
How do I test if my grounding mat is working properly?
- Use a socket tester to confirm the outlet is properly grounded.
- Check that the cord is fully connected to the product and adapter.
- Make sure your skin is touching the conductive surface.
- For extra confirmation, use a multimeter or continuity tester.

How do I clean and maintain my grounding mat?
Wipe the mat with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed, then allow it to dry completely. Do not use bleach, harsh chemicals, oils, or abrasive cleaners. Do not machine wash or submerge a mat unless the product care instructions specifically say it is safe.
What is the difference between mats, sheets, pillowcases, and yoga mats?
- Grounding mats: flexible for desk, sofa, or floor contact.
- Grounding sheets: designed for direct contact as part of your bedtime setup.
- Grounding pillowcases: a smaller bedding option that is easy to use at home or while travelling.
- Grounding yoga mats: designed for stretching, mobility, yoga, and floor routines.
Do I need a special outlet?
No. You need a standard outlet with a proper earth connection, used with the supplied earth-only adapter. If your socket tester shows the outlet is not grounded, do not use the product with that outlet until it has been checked by a qualified electrician.
Is grounding just a placebo effect?
People come to grounding from different angles: nature connection, routine, curiosity, or personal experience. We focus on making the setup safe, conductive, and easy to test, so you can know the product is connected correctly.
Is walking barefoot outside just as effective as using grounding products?
Walking barefoot on conductive outdoor surfaces such as grass, soil, sand, or concrete is the simplest form of grounding. Indoor products are a practical alternative when outdoor grounding is not convenient because of weather, location, or lifestyle.
Do grounding mats block device exposure?
No. Grounding products are designed for conductive contact with the earth connection of a properly grounded outlet. If you are concerned about time around electronic devices, reducing distance from devices and limiting usage time are more direct steps.
